It is Saturday lunch time and you have just got home from you're various activities in time to relax and get ready for you're night out.
Has it gotten hotter? The summer heat instead of turning down as the day comes to and end is in fact turning up!
So HOW are you going to make sure you're make up stays on your face doesn't melt off?
Simple! Follow these tips and you won't ever had melting foundation face issues again!
1) Skin Prep.
This is the most important step when the heat is on! An oil free canvas is the basis of how not to have you're make up dripping down your face.
Start with a good cleanse of your skin in the shower.
Next possibly use a primer, I don't tend to use these ever but when its really sticky and hot it is useful to have a barrier in between you're skin and the make up.
Smooth it over the skin after your cleansing and make sure it is rubbed in well. If you are going to be wearing a full face of foundation by all means put primer all over but if you are only going to concentrate on small areas like under the eyes etc then just put the primer there.
2) Find waterproof products.
Now, I'm not really a big fan of these as they are usually made with silicon or other chemicals that ensure they stay in place. This also makes them hard to get off at the end of the night but with heat like we have had in Australia this year I think on the odd occasion it is necessary.
3) Don't slather on foundation.
If you are one of those ladies that feels better with a full face of foundation I would recommend that you stay away from this on those very hot and sticky days/nights.
Opt for a thicker concealer and don't smother the face in it, just where you need to.
Under the eyes, around the nostrils and perhaps a little in the middle of you're eyes and of course on any spots that have rudely popped up over night. Blend in properly and then cover the face in bronzer or pressed powder but make sure you don't go over board, just enough for you to feel comfortable. As always with foundation, if you can tell you are wearing a lot of it, so can everyone else.
Using pressed powder, you will have to re apply at stages through the night though so keep you're eyes on it and if you have oily skin I would stay away from pressed powder all together, reason being is that the powder goes on OVER THE TOP of the oil and just looks awful.
4) Anti Perspirant Deodorant.
Der... I don't really need to mention this one. if you normally use anti perspirant deodorant and instead use body spray. Nights like these definitely call for it :-)
5) Oil Absorbers.
Clean and Clear make these great oil absorbing sheets. These are also great for those really sticky days and will save you're face falling off. Simply blot away the greasy, sweats as the day heats up.
6) Wear Less Eye Make Up.
Usually when I get ready for a girls night I make my eyes nice and smoky, lots of mascara and off we go. When the summer heat and humidity strike I have learnt the hard way not to wear quite so much!
Still smoke up the eye but I would say just tone it down a little, not quite so dark and not with quite as much product. Line you're eyes with your kohl pencil and then go over the top of it with eyeshadow. This will set the kohl in place for a lot longer and it will more than likely not melt as quickly.
If you really want to keep cool during the night out with the girls you could always find one of those ice bars! That would guarantee that you're make up stayed in place!
